PERTH CONQUERED--CRICKET WON
posted by --sunny joshi

“Golden run ends at hands of swinger kings”…so says the Melbourne based Australian newspaper “The Age”.

Undoubtedly, this is virtually impregnable and one of the finest victories which was taken away from the den of the OZs…. More so, this victory becomes so special and important because the cricket pitch at Perth is known to be fastest one in the world and the Kangaroos were thinking that on this pitch their fast bowlers will make it very difficult for Indians to stay on the pitch and no one will stop them from achieving their golden run and world record of winning 17th test match continuously. Not only Australians, the other Pundits and experts were also singing same tone that on this fast pitch Indian can’t nowhere stand against the fast OZs bowlers. But after unpleasant happenings at Sydney, the resurgent and dogged Indians proved wrong all pundits and experts of cricket and stormed to their greatest victory on foreign soil and shattered Australia's quest for a record-breaking 17th straight Test. This famous win not only stopped the winning spree of the OZ’s but also shattered their dream from making their world record of winning seventeen text matches in a sequence. It is rightly said that history repeats itself because for the second time, India halted an Australian Test-winning sequence at 16 games. For Indian, it was the first victory at the WACA Ground Perth and fifth ever on Australian soil.

Before Perth test, what happened in Sydney was not just cricket…At one point the team was seriously thinking returning home in the middle of tour after the humiliation the team suffered at Sydney. However, by settling side the option of returning home the team choose to stay on the field and avenge the humiliation in a befitting and sporting manner. What is more generous and greatness on the part of Indian team was to withdraw the complaint against Brad Hogg just before starting the Perth test, who reportedly abused the Indian players in Sydney test. And look- the boys overwhelmed against all odds and excelled in every field of the cricket and broke the streak of OZs. They avenged Sydney in a befitting manner… Bravo boys…and for the forthcoming Melbourne test -start singing ….We will….we will rock you OZs…

“We didn't know if it was humanly possible to reach the top of Mt. Everest. And even using oxygen as we were, if we did get to the top, we weren't at all sure whether we wouldn't drop dead or something of that nature” . - Mt. Everest Conqueror Sir Edmond Hillary

The demise of famous Mountaineer, Environmentalist, Adventurer, Ambassador, Pilot, Explorer, Mt. Everest Conqueror etc…etc… Sir Edmond Hillary has prevailed a wave of shock all around the world. With the demise of Sir Edmund Hillary we have lost a real king and hero. The place vacuumed with demise of this icon and king of hills can’t be filled by anybody.

Sir Edmond Hillary died at his home in New Zealand at the age of 88, mourned by his countrymen and by legions of admirers all around the world. He remained closely associated with Nepalese people. He had established a charity called Himalayan Trust for the humanitarian, welfare and development work for the people of Nepal. Through this charity he played a pivotal role in constructing school, bridges, Hospitals, Roads etc. for the people of Nepal. He was also an ardent lover of the nature specifically he was deeply influenced by the culture, flora and fauna of the Himalayan region. In a interview he said, “I became increasingly interested in the people of the Himalayas. I built up very close friendships with them and I became concerned about the things that they wanted.” Major portion of his life, he occupied himself with environmental causes and humanitarian work on the behalf of the Nepalese people. He was conferred the Honorary citizenship of the Nepal where is treated as Demi-God.

Born in 1919, in Auckland, New Zealand Sir Edmund Hillary was interested in adventurous and mountaineering adventures from very beginning. As his name spells out (hill + a( i )ry) he was a airy (symbolizes hero) of the hills. To remain in proximity with nature, hilly terrains, and snow peaked mountains of Himalayas were was hobby and aim both. Starting mountaineering in New Zealand, he scaled the mountains of the Alps, and finally the Himalayas, where he climbed 11 different peaks of over 20,000 feet. His main aim was to conquest the Mount Everest (Nepalese Sagarmatha; Tibetan Chomo-Langma, Mother Goddess of the World), named after George Everest, the first surveyor general of India., which is the World's highest mountain, in the central Himalayas on the borders of Tibet and Nepal. Before his conquest to world’s highest peak with his fellow mountaineer Tenzing Norgay of Nepal, seven major expeditions were failed to reach the summit. But it did not unnerve Sir Edmund Hillary and he with the Tenzing Norgay started the expedition to mount the Mt. Everest in May 1953. On the morning of May 29, 1953, Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit, 29,028 feet above the sea level, the highest point on earth. This feat of Sir Edmund Hillary is as remarkable as Neil Armstrong’s feat on the surface of moon.

In 1977 Hillary reached India with four members and a jet Boat. And this time the mission was different. After scaling the highest place in the earth, this time he planned rowing against the waves of Ganges by Jet boat. The expedition was given the name “Ocean to Sky” starting from Kolkata (India) towards the origin of the Ganges. The expedition continued up to Nand Prayag where it was forced to stop due to falling of a fountain in the river of Alaknanda and non availability of route to go ahead with expedition. But this expedition attracted the attention of the media worldwide and once again Hillary become the character of media. Throughout his life he attained many mile stones. Some of them are enumerated below:

HARRY-POTTER-MANIA

Once Albert Einstein said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science”. I think recently published and picturized Harry Potter series novels written by JK Rowling is one of the reasonable explanation as to why of such mysterious beliefs of the universe have always been a matter of interest and curiosity.

Fairytales, Angels, Demons, Miracles, Phenomena and Mysteries of the universe are always been the matter of curiosity and debate amongst seers, scholars, scientists and religious gurus. This is perhaps the reasons that the existence of such mysterious happenings and entities whether realistic of otherwise have prominently been finding place in Chronicles, Journals, Books and News Papers around the world over the ages. Our forefathers are teller of the stories of fairy queen, angels and to a larger extent the society still tends to accept these beliefs. People are reluctant to hear that existence of these fairytales, angels, and demons are mere imagination. Whatsoever might have been truth it sounds good imagination and makes us snooping of having existence of such characters? Perhaps, this is reason that we listen and read such stories and tales eagerly whenever such happenings arise and heard. Possibly keeping these things in mind
JK Rowling would have inspired and created the characters like Harry, a boy with super magical powers, cruel villains and mysterious surroundings to attract the people and she succeeded in her endeavor to a great extend.

When
JK Rowling might have feigned and started writing the various such mysterious characters in the Harry potter series books, she would have never thought that the book will be so popular that it would break all previous records as far as sale and fund raising by any book is concerned. Whatsoever might have inspired JK Rowling to write such mysterious and fantastic classic, one thing is sure that she reincarnated these old mysteries and beliefs for not only the children but also for other l generation in a newer sense to drag them passionate and crazy.

Seventh and final novel of Harry Potter series
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling reportedly her final goodbye to Harry Potter series, become the most popular book of 2007 and broken all previous records as far as fund raising by any novel is concerned. As per news published in Times, it raised about £2 million at auction in London. Afterwards, Rowling said: “I’m stunned and ecstatic. Christmas has come early for me.

When there was a news that Harry Potter era will be end after the seventh novel namely
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by the all time great novelist J. K. Rowling, the people were virtually crestfallen. After all series of Harry Potter broken all previous sales records made by any novel. The people were unhappy that they will not be able to see the magic of Harry any more. It is good news for the lover of magic of Harry that he is coming back though in a different manner.

Recently, the publisher of the first book of the Harry Potter series has claimed that new series of the novel “Tunnels” the magic will be back which will reminiscent you with the magic of Harry Potter. The publisher of Chicken House Barry Cunningham has signed an agreement with the writer of Novel “Tunnels” namely Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. Cunningham said, “When I read the first page of Harry Potter I was sure that there is magical attraction on it. I felt similar passion while reading the Tunnels.

Basically this novel encompasses a lot of attractions for the people. Magical power of a boy, cruel villain, mysterious surroundings and the world below the land ….. Everything will be there for the people to baffle. The new hero of this new mysterious series will be 14 years old boy Bill Barrow.

So the passionate lovers of Harry Potter who were was dejected with the announcement of the end of the
Harry Potter series, has reason to rejoice and cheer again though in a different way…but for the time being they have to wait and watch….what mysterious and mystifying things come next to drag you crazy and passionate will be clear on publishing of new series of novel “Tunnels”.
